The International Golf Academy and Mizuno Japan will cooperate to open the Mizuno Golf School in Vietnam in April, it was announced at a press conference at Ho Chi Minh City’s Nikko Hotel on Friday.

The school aims to provide and implement golf programs to help golfers play better at all levels, from juniors, beginners to advanced.

Speaking at the conference, Joe Thiel, Mizuno Master Instructor, said, “The juniors can take some sort of discipline class which helps develop their character."

Thiel, who has spent 37 years helping others learn and enjoy the game of golf and has earned the prestigious PGA Master Professional designation, said that it is more than just learning and practicing golf.

“I use golf to teach kids about life,” said Thiel. “Not all will leave the program to play professionally, but I make sure they leave it as better people.

“We use the sport to make an impact on society. We teach in every significant area. We want juniors to develop the whole human being.”

According to Thiel, it is not the teachers who are excellent, but it is a great formula that can help the learners. It helps learners to relax and control themselves better.

Thiel is said to be among the top 50 best golf instructors in the US. He instructed the world famous female South Korean professional player Se Ri Pak, who currently plays on the LPGA Tour. She was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in November, 2007.
