Miss World 2012 has kicked off an extra round titled “People's Choice Online Voting” which allows netizens to vote for their favorite contestants by liking their Facebook pages.
During the round each contestant has a Facebook page where she can share her personal information and her country’s introduction as well as photos, videos and news featuring her ongoing trip to China.
Hoang My, Vietnam’s representative , has so far received more than 21,000 likes from fans on her Facebook page at www.facebook.com/pages/Miss-World-Vietnam/254365614668490 .
On the page My’s videos in which she gives an introduction on the country she represents have received positive responses from netizens, who praise the 1.71-meter tall beauty for her mix of Western and Eastern charm, intelligence, and good English communication skills.
Though she was eliminated from the performance talent round this month, the 24-year-old said she’s not upset since she earned an unforgettable experience.
“People's Choice On-line Voting” will run until August 15, three days before the finale night.
Created in 1951, the Miss World pageant is one of the oldest international beauty pageants. The annual final is typically a month-long event, with several preliminary galas, dinners, balls and activities, culminating in a globally telecast final show.
In 2011, Victoria Thuy Vy represented Vietnam at the contest.
