A 2.9-magnitude earthquake struck Song Ma District in the northern mountainous Son La Province yesterday morning, according to Viet Nam Earthquake and Tsunami Warning Centre.

As it was a small earthquake, people and construction sites suffered no damage.
Director of the centre, Nguyen Hong Phuong, said the earthquake occurred in Ma River fault zone, where earthquakes are common. — VNS
