The Education and Training Ministry has instructed people's committees throughout the country to tighten the management of school fees to stop the collection of illicit payments.

The instruction requires the committees to provide guidelines and inspect education facilities to ensure transparency.

School administrators must also allow parents to decide about additional costs such as those for uniforms, badges and notebooks.

The cost of food, drinks and accommodation must be published and accord with regulations.

The ministry has also instructed people's committees to set the regulations for the collections of fees for the parents fund.

School administrations are required to publish the collection and use of money that individuals, organisation and businesses contribute and are not permitted to spontaneously seek contributions from students.

The Ha Noi Education and Training Department has appointed teams to inspect the collection of fees in the city from pre-schools to higher institutions.

The campaign started on Monday and is expected to last until the end of next month. - VNS
