Singapore Open Super Series No. 6 Nguyen Tien Minh, was narrowly defeated by underdog Boonsak Ponsana from Thailand in his semi-final match on June 22.
Ponsana made an impressive start and quickly won the first set 21-12.
Minh rallied in the second to win 21-18 but failed to secure victory in the third as Ponsana beat him 21-19.
Minh's Thai opponent will face Zengming Wang from China, who beat Viktor Alesen from Denmark 21-17 and 26-24 in the other semi-final match.
