Over 400 troops have been joining efforts to reinforce dykes in two provinces of Phu Yen and Quang Ngai to cope with ongoing spring tides.
Due to a tropical low pressure, tidal waves have risen to more than 5 metres over the past days, threatening the lives of hundreds of households in Ro Hamlet, Phu Dong Ward, Tuy Hoa City in Phu Yen Province and An Cuong Village, Binh Hai Commune, Binh Son District in Quang Ngai Province.
Aware of this threat, the Military Commands of Phu Yen and Quang Ngai provinces sent their troops to these localities to help evacuate local people from areas prone to flooding.
Troops also reinforced embankments with various packs of sand in order to prevent the flood tide from further invading the mainland.
