German Chancellor Angela Merkel will use an upcoming visit to China this week to encourage Beijing to reduce its imports of Iranian oil, a German government source said on Tuesday.

The European Union will implement an embargo on Iranian oil by July as it tightens sanctions on Tehran over its nuclear program.
