VGP – The Mekong Delta provinces are seeking solutions to improve their provincial competitiveness index (PCI).
In 2011, three out of 13 provinces in the region had their PCI increased while the remaining ten saw their PCI falling.
The news was announced on March 13 in Cần Thơ city at a seminar to discuss PCI in the Mekong Delta in 2011.
The event was jointly held by the Việt Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the US Agency for International Development's Việt Nam Competitiveness Initiative (USAID/VNCI).
Last year, Long An jumped nine points to rank 3rd in the PCI list. Cà Mau was placed 32nd from 51st.
VCCI Cần Thơ Director Võ Hùng Dũng suggested the group of high PCI provinces set goals to earn more points in tougher criteria to improve their positions.
In addition, Mr. Dũng proposed the Mekong Delta provinces focus on improving their business and investment environment./.
