PANO – A meeting to celebrate the 36th Anniversary of liberating the Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago, April 29th, was held at Truong Sa Town, Truong Sa Island District, Khanh Hoa Province, on April 5th, with the attendance of Lieutenant-General Nguyen Thanh Cung, Deputy-Chief of the General Department of Politics.

Speaking at the meeting, General Cung stressed that over the past years, cadres, soldiers and residents in Truong Sa brought into play the heroic tradition to take difficulties in their stride to protect the national peace, seas and island sovereignty.
In addition, he asked the Truong Sa Party Committee and local people to focus on socio-economic development along with preserving national defence and security in the archipelago to build up and develop Truong Sa strongly and comprehensively in all aspects.
He also suggested that Truong Sa should promote closer army-people relations, create favourable conditions for fishermen as well as actively take part in disaster relief and sea rescue activities.
