A technical seminar on gender equality and women’s rights, “Woman and Media”, has just taken place in Oslo, Norway, in the presence of female reporters and leaders from Vietnam and Norway’s national agencies on gender equality and media.
The seminar aimed to exchange experiences on promoting women’s approach to media, easing negative opinions about gender, encouraging the participation of women in media and so on.
At the seminar, Vietnamese representatives delivered important reports about gender equality, such as responsibility and regulations of the Government in promoting the participation of women in media and gender inequality in some cultural activities.
Over the past years, Vietnam’s Ministry of Information and Communication held many activities to raise abilities for staff in media agencies, such as dialogues, trainings and conferences and so on. However, women working in media agencies are still limited.
During the seminar, Vietnamese representatives had an opportunity to learn more experiences from Norway which pays attention to the participation of women in media agencies.
In the coming time, a group of Norwegian experts will give more technical assistance to Vietnamese reporters and editors to raise their abilities. Press agencies of the two countries will also work together to share and learn experiences from each other.
