Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai made the request while chairing a meeting with the National Council for Water Resources on March 8 in Hanoi.
The Deputy PM also asked the council to conduct water resource planning and exercise drills to cope with unexpected problems in water reservoirs.
Delegates at the meeting touched upon two programmes on exploiting and following the changes of water resources, and the operation procedures of water reservoirs in river basins.
The participants also outlined short-term and long-term measures to lessen negative effects of the exploitation and use of water resources and prevent and control water-related problems.
