HCMC - Vietnam Motor Show 2012 in Hanoi’s Giang Vo Exhibition Center, the industry’s largest exhibition from September 26 to 30 in the country, will attract many car importers beside key automakers.
Most of the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturer’s Association (VAMA) members and car importers will join together in the event. Big names include such VAMA members as Ford, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Suzuki and Toyota, as well as distributors of famous brands such as Audi, BMW, Land Rover, Luxgen, Porsche and Renault.
Last year, only six out of the 18 auto firms belonging to VAMA participated in the 7th Vietnam Motor Show held in HCMC. Then, a VAMA representative said that the impact of the economy, market slowdown and the high expenditure to invest in a pavilion may have been the factors.
The participation fee together with expenses to set up a pavilion and transport costs may total at least US$100,000, said an automaker.
The economic volatility and difficulties as well as high fees have significantly affected the local auto market. Therefore, the show is held with the hope it will heat up the market in the last months of the year.
VAMA expects that there will be more than 100 booths of ancillary industries, spare parts, banking, insurance and related fields.
