A man and a woman were found dead in front of a children’s culture house in the southern province of Soc Trang at the dawn on Saturday, with multiple stab wounds on their bodies.

A knife was seen stuck in the chest of the male victim when police arrived at the scene in the provincial capital of Soc Trang.

The man has been identified as Tran Van Ut, 22, and the woman, Tran Thi Hong Suong, 30. Ut hailed from the nearby city of Can Tho, whereas Suong was a Soc Trang resident.

The bodies have been taken to the province’s general hospital for autopsy.

A doctor revealed that Ut had one single stab through his heart, whereas Suong appeared to have been attacked multiple times on her chest, with one stab going deep enough to reach her heart.

The owner of a sidewalk café fronting the culture house said she heard dog barks, following sound of people quarreling, at around 2:00 am the same day. When she woke up at 4:00 am, the woman saw the bodies lying on the pavement and immediately called the police.
