VGP - Republic of Korea (RoK)’s Doosan Heavy Industries held a groundbreaking ceremony on May 4 to install equipment to convert sea water into fresh water in Ly Son island, Quang Ngai Province.
The equipment, worth US $1 million, is capable of filtering around 200 cu.m of sea water per day.
The project, scheduled to come into operation at the end of this August, is expected to provide enough fresh water for 500 residents living on the island.
Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Van Lang highly valued the efforts of Doosan Vina in applying modern technology for this project.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ly Son District People’s Committee Pham Thi Huong expressed her thanks to the company for installing the equipment.
