The VN-Index on the HCM City bourse pared earlier losses to advance by a mere 0.5 per cent, reaching 448.10 points.

The value of trades, however, slid 14.3 per cent compared to yesterday morning's level, totalling VND779.9 billion (US$37.1 million). Trading volume dropped to 58 million shares, a 12.3 per cent decrease.
Eight of the 30 stocks tracked by the VN30 dipped during this morning's trading. Meanwhile, most of the others finished up, including PetroVietnam Finance (PVF), food processor Hung Vuong and real estate stocks Song Da (SJS) and Khang Dien (KDH), which hit their ceiling prices.
The VN30 added 0.35 per cent to reach 508.56 points.
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index edged up 0.7 per cent to 76.21 points.
Market value slightly declined to VND668.1 billion ($31.8 million) on a volume of 68.7 million shares.
Habubank (HBB) retained its leading position in trading volume with 10.4 million shares changing hands. – VNS
