Long An took the lead with an early goal by Nguyen Viet Thang after five minutes before Nguyen Quang Hai scored an equaliser for T&T in the 17th minute. The first half ended in a 1-1 draw.
After the break, Hanoi T&T dominated the game for the first 10 minutes but paid dearly for their impatience when Viet Thang scored the second goal for Long An in the 54th minute.
16 minutes later, Quang Hai again levelled the score for T&T from a free kick. However, Viet Thang made it 3-2 for Long An, completing his hat-trick with a beautiful lob goal in the first minute of injury time.
With this impressive victory, Long An won the tournament. Viettel and SHB Da Nang shared third place. Runners-up Hanoi T&T also won the fair-play prize.
Nguyen Viet Thang from Long An earned the best overall player award and shared top scorer title with his teammate Duong Anh Tu with four goals each. The best goalkeeper went to Duong Quang Tuan from Hanoi T&T.
The tournament, held in Ho Chi Minh City from August 8-17, attracted eight teams including SHB Da Nang, Binh Dinh, Hanoi T&T, Thai Nguyen, Viettel, Long An, Tien Giang and hosts, Navibank Saigon.
