President Truong Tan Sang presented promotions to nine high-ranking military and police officers in a ceremony in Ha Noi on Monday.
Eight officers were promoted to the rank of Senior Lieutenant General, including Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang; Permanent Deputy Minister of Public Security Dang Van Hieu; Ngo Xuan Lich, Chief of the General Department of Politics of the Viet Nam People's Army; Do Ba Ty, Chief of the General Staff of the People's Army; and deputy ministers of national defence Nguyen Thanh Cung, Truong Quang Khanh, Nguyen Chi Vinh and Le Huu Duc.

Speaking at the ceremony, Sang said the promotions represented the acknowledgement of the Party, State and people of the contributions of each officer and of the People's armed forces overall. He asked the promoted officers to further heighten their political awareness, revolutionary morals and professional knowledge to accomplish all the tasks entrusted to them. — VNS
