Nhan Dan – The northern province of Lang Son on November 4 celebrated its 180th founding anniversary (1831-2011).
The celebration was attended by Politburo member and permanent member of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee Le Hong Anh; Chairman of the Lang Son People’s Committee Vi Van Thanh; and representatives from ministries, sectors and other northern provinces.
On behalf of the Party and State, Politburo member Le Hong Anh awarded the Ho Chi Minh Order to Lang Son province in recognition of its achievements over the past years. He praised the great sacrifices made by generations of people in Lang Son for the cause of national liberation and construction.
He also urged the province to focus on developing its agriculture and rural areas, training human resources and improving people's material and spiritual lives, particularly for those living in isolated and remote areas.
It is essential to improve education and healthcare, and ensure national security and defense, while creating a transparent and effective political system, he added.
Addressing the ceremony, Chairman Vi Van Thanh recalled that, during the golden age of Lang Son’s 180-year history, its citizens made significant sacrifices and contributions to the country’s defense, reunification and construction.
