Kien Giang repatriates thousands of Vietnamese martyrs since 2001

PANO – The People’s Committee of Kien Giang Province reburied sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts, who sacrificed in Cambodia, at the Hon Dat District martyrs’ cemetery on July 28th.

The Board in charge of gathering sets of remains of martyrs of Kien Giang held reburial for 92 sets. Of which, 86 sets were found and collected in old battlefields in Cambodia and 6 other collected in local areas. However, only 2 out of 92 sets were identified.

Previously, on July 16th, Kien Giang worked with Kep Province (Cambodia) to bring 86 sets of remains of Vietnamese troops back home.

Since 2001, Team K92 from Kien Giang High Command has searched, collected and repatriated 1,643 sets of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts, who sacrified in Cambodian provinces of Kep, Kampot, Sihanouk and Koh Kong, to the home country of Vietnam.
