Khanh Hoa tops international half-marathon races 2010

Nhan Dan - Khanh Hoa secured six first prizes and five second and third prizes at the 2010 International Half Marathon Races which concluded yesterday in Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province.

In the men's 21km event, Nguyen Dang Duc Bao from Khanh Hoa finished first in one hour and nine minutes, followed by K.Thanh from Lam Dong and Trent Harlow from Japan. Another athlete from Khanh Hoa, Nguyen Thi My Chi, topped the women's 21km event with a time of one hour and 26 minutes, followed by Nguyen Thi Ngoc Yen from Hanoi and Nguyen Thi Xuan Doi, also from Khanh Hoa.

The races were held as part of 'Japanese Culture Days in Nha Trang-Khanh Hoa' and attracted 238 athletes from Vietnam, Japan and other countries. Both men and women competed in 5km, 10km and 21km events.

The competition, sponsored jointly by the Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Japanese Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, aimed to strengthen co-operation and friendship between Vietnam, Japan and other countries in the world, and also offered a good opportunity to promote the beautiful central coastal city of Nha Trang.
