PANO – Member of the Politburo and Deputy-Prime Minister, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, worked with Khanh Hoa Province on the implementation of Resolution 39-NQ/TW on socio-economic development and the maintenance of defence and security on December 10 th .
At the working session, the Deputy-Prime Minister considered that Khanh Hoa with its various potentials should be an economic engine for the southern central sub-region. He stressed that the Province should pay more attention to sustainable development in all areas, further improve the standard of living for local people and take more care of the local poor.
Over the past 5 years, Khanh Hoa has seen a stable economic growth rate of 10.85 per cent with per capital GDP of US$ 1,500.
Its economy has been transformed in the direction toward higher ratios of industry, tourism and services.
The Province’s total budget collection reached VND 7,000 billion in 2010, twice as much as that in 2005, and it carried out a number of policies to support local poor people, ethnic minorities and islanders, including those in the Spratly Islands.
In addition to socio-economic development, the provincial armed forces have always ensured defence and security in the Province, as well as firmly protected national sovereignty over the local islands and seas. Translated by Thu Nguyen
