Key leaders continue meetings with voters

In the southern city of Can Tho, Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee (PCC) Secretariat, Le Hong Anh, and the city’s NA delegation continued their second day working with voters in Binh Thuy and Ninh Kieu districts.

Politburo member Anh praised the voters’ contributions and briefed them about measures to realise Party and NA resolutions and boost socio-economic development in the rest of 2012. He also discussed several issues raised by voters concern.

The NA delegation outlined the issues planned for discussion and approval in the upcoming third NA session, as well as socio-economic development, national defence and security in the first four months of 2012.

Voters applauded the Q&A programmes during NA operations and sessions, especially the online meetings between ministries, industries and voters.

They also expressed their concerns about corruption and the ethical deterioration of several Party members that have shaken the people’s belief, as well as traffic accidents and corruption in transport projects that have not yet been stopped.

The NA should aim to improve social, medical and unemployment insurance policies, as well as vocational training programmes. Voters also suggested relevant ministries and sectors should have an appropriate plan for production and comsumption to avoid losses on the heels of bumper crops in the Mekong Delta.

On the same day, Politburo member, PCC Secretary and Head of the Party Commission for Inspection Ngo Van Du, along with the Vinh Phuc province NA delegation, met with voters in six communes in Vinh Truong district, Vinh Phuc province.

After hearing reports about important issues planned for discussion and approval in the upcoming NA session, as well as and socio-economic development, national defence and security, voters recommended relevant industries and branches improve policies for allowances to contributors and commune officials, deal with environmental pollution, and invest in agriculture, rural areas and farmers, in addition to health care, clearance work, and land management.

In the northern province of Ha Nam, State Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan and the province’s NA delegation monitored the implementation of laws and policies on managing and exploiting minerals that are related to environmental protection.

The province’s natural resources and mineral exploitation have met the demands for construction materials and comply with legal regulations and procedures to ensure labour safety and the protection of the environment and historical relics.

The local authorities made several suggestions and solutions to improve current policies and regulations for mineral management amd environmental protection.

Also on Many 2-3, NA Vice Chairman Huynh Ngoc Son met with voters in the coastal central province of Da Nang.

Many people were concerned about the organisation, corruption and financial management in State-owned corporations and groups and several voters suggested that State workers should publicly declare their property.

Most voters were happy about the salary raise for State workers and increased allowances for retirees, howerver, it does not keep up with the increased prices of electricity and petrol. Voters asked the NA to monitor petrol price increases and ask the Government to closely manage this issue.

They said they were worried about the Ministry of Transportation’s decision to collect road maintenance fees from car and motorbike users.
