THUA THIEN – HUE — A primary school built with funding from Japanese retailer Aeon Group opened on Tuesday in central Thua Thien Hue province's Quang Dien District.

Quang Loi Primary School, also called Aeon Cherry School, is the first of 10 schools to be built in the province with Aeon's assistance this year, following 10 others last year.

A further 10 will open next year.

Under an agreement signed between the Japanese group and the central province in 2010, Aeon will provide US$2.7 million for the 30 primary schools and $300,000 for an afforestation project. — VNS
