Japanese musical duo comes to city

During their first-ever tour to Vietnam, Japanese duo Aki and Kuniko will perform at the Youth Cultural House in HCMC at 8:30 p.m. on July 8 and Vietnam National Academy of Music at 8 p.m. in Hanoi from July 9-10.

During their first-ever tour to Vietnam, Japanese duo Aki and Kuniko will perform at the Youth Cultural House in HCMC at 8:30 p.m. on July 8 and Vietnam National Academy of Music at 8 p.m. in Hanoi from July 9-10.

Established in 2002, the duo has performed worldwide and released two albums ‘Ha-aki & Kuniko’ in 2003 and ‘Over The Top’ in 2006 which featured a combination of guitar and Japanese Koto.

Guitarist Aki graduated from the Department of Cinema, College of Art, Nihon University,
Japan. He has released many albums and now is general producer of the acoustic music label Harvest Moon Record.

Graduating from the Masters course in traditional Japanese music at Graduate School of Music, Tokyo University of the Arts, Kuniko is working as grand master at Miyagi Koto School.

All the concerts are free, with advanced tickets required in Hanoi, which are available at the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam, 27 Quang Trung, Hoan Kiem District.

The Youth Cultural House is located at 4 Pham Ngoc Thach Street in HCMC’s District 1, while the Academy of Music is at 77 Hao Nam Street in Dong Da District in Hanoi.
