National Assembly Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu said he believed Japanese Justice Minister Hiraoka Hideo’s visit to Vietnam will contribute to strengthening the Vietnam-Japan strategic partnership.

At the reception for Minister Hiraoka Hideo in Hanoi on January 11, NA Vice Chairman Luu acknowledged and spoke highly of Japan’s large official development assistance provision to Vietnam, despite the impacts of tsunami and earthquake last March.

He said he believes that the Japanese people will overcome the difficulties to restore the country.

Vice Chairman Luu expressed his pleasure at judicial co-operation between the two countries.

He also hailed the activities of Vietnam-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Group and the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship League, describing them as an effective co-operation model between the two parliaments.

Minister Hiraoka Hideo gave thanks for Vietnam’s assistance to Japan in overcoming the consequences of last year’s earthquake and tsunami.

He said Japan hopes to see stronger co-operation with Vietnam in the judicial sector, making a contribution to boosting the two countries’ relations.
