HA NOI — The signing ceremony for the "Construction of traffic bridges in rural areas in Central provinces phase 3" project between Japanese Ambassador Tanizaki Yasuaki and Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang took place in Ha Noi yesterday.

The project, worth 749 million yen (about US$9.3 million), is another attempt by the Japanese Government in implementing its commitment to offering non-refundable assistance worth 2,800 million yen for the construction and upgrade of 41 bridges in 17 provinces and a city in the central area.

The project is expected to boost economic activities by reducing the weight limit of vehicles passing over bridges, diminishing traffic accidents and reducing the cost of maintenance. — VNS
