The seminar was co-hosted by the Vietnamese Ministry of Construction, the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism (MLIT) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Japan has highly appreciated Việt Nam’s effective use of Official Development Assistance (ODA) in the recent years. Japan has also contributed to building legal documents, upgrading facilities and supporting training at home and abroad to improve the quality of construction projects in Việt Nam, said Deputy Minister of Construction Bùi Phạm Khánh.

In 2010, the total construction capital in Việt Nam reached US $40 billion, around 25-30% of which came from the State budget. In 2010, more than 50,000 projects were launched. The annual construction growth of Việt Nam increases from 10-15%.

The event was a good chance for the two nations to enhance bilateral cooperation in this field.

Representatives from MLIT and JICA introduced a construction quality management system and technology and construction materials as well as put forth proposals on standard technical regulations, registration system and performance evaluation for contractors.

JICA Deputy Director in Việt Nam Toshio Nagase expressed his hope that Việt Nam can put into practice the experiences on quality management and construction projects shared by Japanese experts at the seminar.
