Former Italian defender Fabio Cannavaro is expected to arrive in Ho Chi Minh City later this weekend at the invitation of Eximbank.
During his visit, the 38-year-old defender is scheduled to take part in a series of activities in the city, including a press conference and meetings with a local football team and football fans.
Cannavaro started his career at Napoli, before playing for Parma, Inter Milan, Juventus and Real Madrid.
During his 19-year career, he played in four World Cups and holds an Italian record of 136 international appearances, in which he scored two goals.
In 2006, which is seen as his most successful year, the defender helped his national team win their fourth World Cup. That same year, he also won the European Golden Ball award and was named the FIFA World Player of the Year, making him the only defender to win the award.
In 2001, he retired from professional football at the age of 37 due to a persistent knee injury while playing at the Al Ahli club in the United Arab Emirates.
