Int’l conference to showcase Vietnamese literature

The second International Conference on Vietnamese Literature will be held at the My Dinh National Conference Center in Hanoi on January 5, Tuoi Tre reports.

The event to give foreign translators, researchers and publishers an insight into Vietnam’s literature history and value will form the basis for the introduction of Vietnamese literature to international friends.

“Seven writers of the Indian delegation arrived on Tuesday,” said Do Han of the Vietnamese Writers Association.

Some 108 foreign writers are expected to attend the conference. Among them are 17 famous American writers including Kevin Bowen, Bruce Weigle, Larry Heinemann, Paul Wright and Joseph Dumer. Cuban poet Alex Fleites was the first person to send his speech to the organizers. Fleites’ speech focuses on the role of literature in world peace, mutual understanding between nations and the role of poems and writers for humanity.
