The Asian Society of Agricultural Economists will hold its seventh international conference in Hanoi from October 13-15 to evaluate and define the role of agricultural economics in assisting Asia to overcome its agricultural constraints.
The conference aims to help the region achieve a higher income, reduce poverty, and improve food security.
Participants include agricultural economists, development professionals, policy makers, academicians, researchers and students.
The agriculture sector has played a significant role in Asia’s economic growth and now faces a series of problems including sustainable growth on par with or surpassing the food demands of an increasing population and rapid urbanization.
This scenario underscores the need to reconsider existing concepts and theories as well as research tools to effectively analyse the patterns of development and linkages in agriculture and the rural economy.
