(CPV) – On March 17, the 2011 International Sailboat Racing Festival with the title: “Sailboat, Sea and Sun” was kicked off in Mu Ne in the southern province of Binh Thuan.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan affirmed that the festival was held in Vietnam for the first time and would open up more opportunities to develop sea tourism and sailboat technology for Binh Thuan in particular and Vietnam in general.
The opening ceremony brought impressive moments, with performances of Australia’s Massive Band and Russian singer, Natalia. After that, sail boat races satisfied participants as they competed at sea.
The festival is attracting the participation of more than 20 teams from Russia, Australia, Netherlands, Sweden, the US, France, Germany, Italy, China, Greece, Spain, Belgium, Finland, New Zealand, Argentina and the Republic of Korea (RoK).
The festival lasts until March 20 with major activities such as sailboat racing, a sailboat technology exhibition, international seminars on sailboat technology and building a sea tourism trademark for Vietnam.
Under the tourism development plan for 2011, Binh Thuan Province strives to welcome 2.8 million arrivals to tourism sites and recreation areas.
