Hundreds of Indian expatriates and their Vietnamese friends had a rollicking time at the RMIT University playground on Saturday, celebrating Holi, also known as the festival of colors.
The 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. celebrations were organized by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (INCHAM).
Indian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Abhay Thakur, stress the spirity of amity that the festival spreads: "Everyone is happy here because you forget your anger and hatred for someone. Maybe you don’t know some people, but you can come and put colors on them, even strangers and make friends.”
Nguyen Thi Anh Nguyet of the Department of Indian Studies at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities (HCMUSSH) said, “I like Indian culture because of its variety. I like Indian music, dances and festivals and I like Holi best of all because everyone is equal at the event although there are still differences between the upper and lower classes in India.”
