The Vietnamese Embassy in the Federal Republic of Germany held a review ceremony for “Vietnam Year in Germany” on December 26 in Berlin.

Minister Counsellor Bui Ngoc Toan reviewed important events in the total of 25 events the Embassy of Vietnam organized or co-organized during "Vietnam Year in Germany", especially the Vietnamese Festival on August 28 and 29 at Alexander Square in the centre of Berlin, the capital city of Germany. This was the first time the Foreign Affairs magazine of Germany has devoted a special issue – May, 2010 – to publish photos and an interview with Ambassador Do Hoa Binh on the development of Vietnam, as well as the relationship between the two countries.

The Consulate General of Vietnam in Frankfurt Nguyen Huu Trang also reviewed the activities of the Consulate designed to strengthen relations between the two countries during "Vietnam Year in Germany", such as organizing a youth exchange between Hessen state and Vietnam in the framework of the project, “Hesse meets Vietnam", and arranging a workshop on law for Vietnamese people who studied law in Germany.

Ambassador Do Hoa Binh said that the successful organization of "Vietnam Year in Germany" has helped bring relations between Vietnam and Germany to a new level, contributing to improving Vietnam's image in German friends’ eyes and increasing the national pride of the Overseas Vietnamese community in Germany.

At the review ceremony, the Embassy of Vietnam and the Board of Community Working awarded certificates of merit to a number of community groups and individuals making outstanding achievements in organizing "Vietnam Year in Germany".

The meeting also discussed the necessity, difficulties and advantages of establishing an Overseas Vietnamese Association in the Federal Republic of Germany.

The Ambassador said that it must be determined that this derives from the needs of the community, is formed by the community and provides tangible benefits for the community.
