French music festival Fete de la musique celebrates its 31st birthday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. a week today at Idecaf, 31 Thai Van Lung Street in District 1.

The festival will be held in the garden space so everyone can join the event freely. It covers all genres of music for people of all ages, from amateur to professional artists.

This year’s extravaganza features Vo Trong Phuc, Quang Vinh, Tuan Kiet, Anh Thi, Thanh Tu, hiphop troupe BighSouth with students from French International School Marguerite Duras and Van Lang University.

Initiated in 1981 by the Ministry of Culture and Information in France, the festival has become an annual global event.

*Two Vietnamese students from the Vietnam National Academy of Music have been a huge success at the Val Tidone International Music Competition in Italy which finished on Sunday, reports VietnamPlus.

Nguyen Dang Quang topped Group B for the under 15 age group, while Pham Quang Huy was second in Group C for contestants under 19.

This was the third time the academy had sent its students to such an event and associated professor and doctor Luu Quang Minh was invited as a member of the jury.

This year’s competition drew 128 contestants on the piano and accordion and 39 groups to the chamber concert performance.
