IT students win int’l Olympiad top prizes

VietNamNet Bridge - The Vietnamese team has bagged gold, silver and bronze medals at the 23 rd International Olympiad in Informatics, which is scheduled to conclude in Thailand on July 29.

The gold medal went to Nguyen Vuong Linh, from the Hanoi National University while Nguyen Tan Sy Nguyen from the Ho Chi Minh City National University won the silver. Bronze medallists are Le Khac Minh Tue from the Hanoi National University and Nguyen Hoang Yen from the Hanoi University of Education.

All prize winners are 12 th grade students of schools for the talents. They have joined other successful Olympiad teams, namely biology held in Taiwan, chemistry in Turkey, physics in Thailand and mathematics in the Netherlands, reported the Ministry of Education and Training.

Vietnam wins bronzes at int’l Maths Olympiad

All six members of the Vietnamese team won bronzes at the 52 nd International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) held in the Netherlands, said the Department of Examinations and Education Quality Assessment on July 23.

The Department of Examinations and Education Quality Assessment said on July 23 that with this performance, Vietnam ranked 31 st out of the 90 participating delegations. China came in first, followed by the US and Singapore.

So far, four out of five Vietnamese Olympiad teams have bagged 18 medals and one certificate of merit, including one gold in physics, four silvers in physics and chemistry, and 13 bronzes.

The Informatics Olympiad team will take part in the final competition on July 29.

The 53 rd IMO is scheduled to take place in Argentina in 2012.
