Huong sets new SEA record in women’s 200m race

Vu Thi Huong broke a 10-year-old Southeast Asian record in the 200m race at the 2010 National Physical Training and Sports championship in Da Nang City on Wednesday with a timing of 23:27.

The national sprint queen from An Giang Province broke the 23:30 record set by Thailand’s Supavadee Khawpeag.

In other track and field events, Bach Phuong Thao of Nam Dinh and Bui Thi Nhat Thanh of Da Nang broke the national record in men’s 100m hurdles and the women’s triple jump respectively.

As many as 23 national records were broken in the pool, with the most notable performance coming from Da Nang’s Hoang Quy Phuoc who broke the men’s 50m freestyle recor of 24:51 by 01:08 seconds.

New records were also set by Duong Thi Thom from Quang Ninh (women’s 50m backstroke), Pham Thi Hue of Quang Binh (women’s 200m breaststroke) and Nguyen Thanh Hai of the Military team (1,500m freestyle)
