Hue Festival 2012 wraps up

A performance at the closing ceremony.

The closing ceremony featured dances and drumming by artists from the Hue Royal Traditional Theatre as well as performances by guest artists from Mongolia, Cuba, Russia and India.

It also included a fireworks display and dances entitled ‘Spring Sway’, ‘The Breath of the Huong (Perfume) River’ and ‘Beautiful Vietnam’, promoting the country’s beauty.

The various programmes during the nine-day festival attracted over two million visitors, 54% increase over the previous Hue festival in 2010, including 80,000 foreigners, three time more than the 2010 event, said Ngo Hoa, Vice Chairman of the Thua Thien – Hue provincial People’s Committee and head of the event’s organisng board.

More than 3,000 local and international professional and amateur artists, actors and actresses took place in hundreds of performances, and traditional ceremonies during the festival, as well as reenactments of royal festivals and other related activities.
