The Hanoitimes - According to Deputy Minister of Labour, War-Invalids and Social Affairs Bui Hong Linh, the National Assembly Standing Committee has adopted a project to repair and built houses of gratitude for 73,000 revolutionary contributors in 2012 and 2013. The information was announced during a press briefing on activities commemorating the 65th anniversary of the day for wounded soldiers and martyrs and the preparation for the meeting to honour outstanding revolutionary contributors. He added that the houses will be built and repaired from the State budget and social resources. According to Mr. Linh, there are currently 8.8 million revolutionary contributors, accounting for 10% of the population. At present, 1.47 million revolutionary contributors enjoy a monthly allowance from the State. Beside the allowance from the State, caring activities for revolutionary contributors are maintained regularly. A majority of revolutionary contributors enjoy preferential policies on healthcare, housing, education, vocational training and job creation. During the press briefing, Deputy Minister Bui Hong Linh said that the meeting to honour revolutionary contributors will be held on July 7 with the participation of 385 representatives. To commemorate the 65th day for wounded soldiers and martyrs, MOLISA will work with the Vietnam Fatherland Front to launch the campaign on payment of gratitude until July 27. BTP |
