More than 40 households surrounding the Phan Me landfill site in northern Thai Nguyen Province will be evacuated to safety after a landslide killed one woman, injured her husband and caused the disappearance of five others last week.
THAI NGUYÊN –
According to a Vietnam News correspondent in the province, local authorities will build a new 8,500 sq.m resettlement area in Phuc Linh Commune to include electricity, water supply, drainage and internal road systems.
Each household will be allocated 200sq.m.
The five missing people have since been found although rescue forces, including Australian and Canadian mining experts, were still hard at work.
Vu Ngoc Luong, an official from the Phan Me landfill site, said they had managed to uncover houses, trees and household appliances thus far.
It is reported that the landslide buried more than ten houses and about four hectares of agricultural land and gardens. – VNS
