The Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee on December 25 organised a ceremony to honour 98 organisations and 10 individuals, who had made great contributions to the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.
Addressing the event, Chairman of the Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen The Thao expressed sincere thanks and recorded the contributions made. He said they all revealed a deep sense of responsibility toward Thang Long-Hanoi and patriotic feelings to the nation.
Those organisations and individuals donated thousands of billions of Vietnamese dong to constructions, projects and cultural activities. Besides, thousands of scientific researchers, cultural activists and historians, hundreds of artists, and craftsmen enthusiastically supported and participated in the event.
Part of these contributions was presented at an exhibition entitled “Hearts with Thang Long-Hanoi” held at Hanoi Friendship Cultural Palace. On display were over 200 gifts offered by 84 individuals and organisations on the grand occasion.
In addition, projects to improve environment launched by the Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee received a positive response from businesses and were strongly supported by the Hanoi Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (UDIC), Hanoi Housing Development and Investment Corpotation (HANDICO), Him Lam Joint Stock Company and Vietnam Bank for Industry and Trade and others.
Other contributions included improving the tree planting system, reinstallation of power lines to run under the ground, and rebuilding flower gardens and parks. VND1 trillion was raised through the contributions of only 98 organisations.
