(VOV) - Outstanding Vietnamese swimmer Hoang Quy Phuoc has won a gold medal in the 100m butterfly event at the 2011 Malaysia Open Swimming Tournament, earning a ticket to the 14th FINA World Championships 2011 in Shanghai, China.
He broke the Standard B record set by the International Swimming Federation (FINA - Fédération Internationale de Natation) after finishing the 100m butterfly event in 53.56 seconds.
With this result, Phuoc is also expected to be selected for the 2012 London Olympic Games.
Last year, Phuoc won the champion title at the 6th National Sport festival and his name was put on the list of Vietnam’s top 10 athletes.
