Minister Luan made this statement on October 4 at a working session with the city’s authorities on the development strategy for education in the 2011-2020 period.
He suggested that, with its advantages of high-quality educational facilities and teaching staff, the city should take the first steps towards becoming the frontrunner in education and training in the country.
He said he believes that the city’s educational sector could be a model for other cities and provinces.
The participants at the meeting all supported the need to fundamentally and comprehensively reform the national educational system.
They also made suggestions to enhance the national educational development strategy such as promoting the role of parents in educational reform; developing practical teaching and learning skills; and improving several leading educational centres to become models for the sector to follow.
