Nhan Dan - Defending champions Ho Chi Minh City returned to the top place in the current ranking of 2011 National Women's Football Championship after defeating hosts Phong Phu Ha Nam 2-0 in a 9th round match on July 16.
Ho Chi Minh City opened the scoring thanks to Thuy Trinh in the fifth minute.
After the break, hosts Phong Phu Ha Nam created waves of attacks against their opponents’ side in order to equalise the score, however, all of their efforts were in vain. Do Hong Tien helped the guests seal a 2-0 victory in the 84th minutes.
In other matches of the 9th round, Thai Nguyen beat Hanoi Trang An II 2-1 while Hanoi Trang An I were held to a 1-1 draw by Vietnam Coal and Mineral.
Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi Trang An I both secured 18 points after nine matches but Ho Chi Minh City rank first in the tally thanks to better goal difference. Phong Phu Ha Nam dropped to third place with 16 points, followed by Vietnam Coal and Mineral with 12 points and Thai Nguyen and Hanoi Trang An II, both with four points.
