The 1,800 metre flower road is decorated with bright, colourful flowers and plants from all across the country, as well as a variety of other displays.
The theme of this year's flower road is, ‘Vietnam – My Home Country’, featuring the beauty of Vietnam's natural landscapes as well as its sea and islands. It is divided into four main sections: Vườn mai Bác Hồ (Uncle Ho's Ochna Blossom Garden), Truyền thuyết hóa rồng (Tranforming into a Dragon), Đất nước trọn niềm vui (The Country Full of Happiness), and Vươn đến tương lai (Moving Towards the Future).
A variety of cultural activities, music shows, dances, and exhibitions are also scheduled as part of the event.
A book festival also opened the same day on Mac Thi Buoi, Nguyen Hue, and Ngo Duc Ke roads.
On display are books and documents about the city’s past and future, in addition to books featuring the country’s history, traditional culture and sovereignty over its sea and islands.
The event aims to encourage a reading culture among the public, in addition to providing entertainment for local residents and visitors during the Tet Festival.
Both festivals will run through January 26.
