The Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front Committee and Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese (ALOV) in Ho Chi Minh City organized to meet overseas Vietnamese on January 7 th on the occasion of the Lunar New Year Festival 2012.
The event, themed “Overseas Vietnamese, a bridge of the Vietnamese brand”, was attended by about 600 people from countries and territories in the world coming back to Vietnam to celebrate the Lunar New Year Festival.
At the meeting, overseas Vietnamese supported the processes of building and developing the country initiated by the party and state.
At the same time, they also suggested that the state should pay more attention to simplify investment procedures, accommodation procedure for overseas Vietnamese and a series of other policies such as custom procedure reform, business registration under the domestic investment law and sustain the macroscopic policy.
In 2011, Ho Chi Minh City had about 500 overseas Vietnamese granted citizenship and got 5.4 billion USD remittance, accounting for 60 percent of remittance of the whole country.
