The leaders of Ho Chi Minh City and Laos’ Savannakhet province have agreed that the two sides should further strengthen their comprehensive co-operation through specific programmes in the coming time.
Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Secretary Le Thanh Hai and Savannakhet Provincial Party Committee Secretary and Mayor Suphan Keomisay reached the consensus during their meeting in HCM City on April 28.
At the reception, the Ho Chi Minh City leader applauded the visit by the Savannakhet delegation, saying that it will help tighten the fine traditional relationship between the two localities.
According to Secretary Hai, Ho Chi Minh City and Savannakhet still have a great potential for co-operation so they should build more specific programmes for co-operation not only in economics but also in education and training, and culture and art.
The two localities should boost people-to-people diplomatic exchange and strengthen co-operation between their mass organisations, he said.
For his part, the Savannakhet leader expressed wish to have more investors from Vietnam as well as HCM City do business in Savannakhet.
He thanked Ho Chi Minh City for granting scholarships to many Savannakhet students and expressed hope to receive the city’s continued support in education and training.
