The southbound bus collided with the truck hailing from Phu Yen central province travelling in the opposite direction at about 2am, confirmed Nguyen Van Truong, deputy chief police of Tan Hai commune.
The two vehicles were badly damaged and two driver assistants were pronounced dead at the scene.
26 injured victims, including the two drivers, were transported to hospital for emergency care. Three of them were said to be in “critical conditions.”
The provincial authorities have given VND2 million to each family of the dead, VND1million to the severely injured and VND 500,000 to those suffering slight wounds.
Details of the accident are under investigation.
