Nhan Dan Online – Hanoi took first place with seven gold, six silver and six bronze medals at the 2012 National Fencing Championships, which concluded at Quan Ngua Sports Palace in Hanoi on July 3.
Ho Chi Minh City finished second with two golds, one silver and three bronzes, followed by Hai Duong with one gold, three silvers and three bronzes.
The tournament, which began in Hanoi on June 28, brought together 111 male and female fencers on six strong teams from across the country, including Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Bac Ninh, Hai Duong, Binh Phuoc and hosts, Hanoi.
The participants vied for 12 sets of medals in both men’s and women’s foil, saber and epee individual and team events.
The six-day event provided a good opportunity to select outstanding fencers for the national team in preparation for upcoming international competitions.
