The Hanoi Department of Transport will build and complete some walkways around the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the Ba Dinh Square before the 122 nd anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s Birthday.
Accordingly, streets from the Le Hong Phong-Ong Ich Khiem crossroads to the Chua Mot Cot-Ba Huyen Thanh Quang T-junction and Hung Vuong Street (between Le Hong Phong and Chua Mot Cot Streets) will be turned to walkways.
The plan is part of the Department’s pilot project after Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc directed the implementation of setting up walkways around the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the Ba Dinh Square.
In 2010, the Ministry of Construction submitted a plan to the PM to upgrade the Ba Dinh Square, such as increasing some grass squares, enlarging Doc Lap Street and dismantling several villas.
Earlier, to ease its current traffic congestion and attract more tourists, Hanoi established a walkway linking the Hang Dao Street and the Dong Xuan Market.
