Work on 18 mobile pedestrian bridges over busy Hanoi streets will begin Saturday, according to a local official.
Nguyen Sy Bao, director of the Hanoi Major Construction Management Board, said the project would be funded with funding leftover from the Japan International Cooperation Agency’s Hanoi Urban Traffic Infrastructure Development Project. He did not specify the amount.
The new steel bridges can be disassembled and moved to new positions as many times as necessary, said Bao as quoted by newswire Vnexpress Monday.
Hanoi already has four footbridges on Nguyen Van Cu, Giai Phong, Nguyen Chi Thanh and Cau Giay Streets.
